MECHANICALLY ATTACHED ROOFING

Mechanically attached roofing is more popular being used by 80 percent of the commercial market. These systems are popular because they are quick to install and are relatively inexpensive. Mechanically attached roofing is easy to inspect because the workmanship can be quickly validated by verifying the fastener patterns.

Installation of a mechanically attached roof involves rolling down the membrane and applying screws along the edge of the membrane. Screws will be driven directly through the insulation boards all the way to the metal deck below. The screws will be covered from sight by the edge of the next membrane sheet to be rolled out. A hot air gun then welds together the membranes to create a flat, waterproof surface with no gaps.
